While all five clusters are equally important and interconnected, however, this third thematic consultation on the Frameworks for a peaceful world – promoting peace, international law and digital cooperation is particularly relevant at this moment in time. The number of conflicts and crises is rising at an alarming rate. The nature of conflict is ever evolving and demands constant vigilance and new approaches. The Secretary-General’s New Agenda for Peace that provides a comprehensive, integrated and inclusive approach to peace and security has our full support. It is important to also look at strengthening the responsiveness, efficiency and transparency of the work of the Security Council. Slovenia, also as a member of the ACT group, continues to call on member statesto join the Code of Conduct regarding the use of veto in Security Council action against genocide, crimes against humanity or war crimes, as well as the Political Declaration on Suspension of Veto Powers in Cases of Mass Atrocity. On international law; The purposes and principles of the Charter and international law remain an indispensable foundation for peaceful relations between States.
